Fall 2022 men’s fashion trends – WWD

[ad_1]

Fall 2022 marked the official return of high fashion days.

Sweatpants and couch-friendly ensembles are long gone. In their place, chic suits, head-turning coats, monochromatic black garments and a silhouette of broad, powerful shoulders not seen since the 80s TV show “Dynasty” took over, highlighting that a new era of excess – at least in terms of fashion – is here.

All this talk about whether men would wear suits after all the dominance of casual styling during the pandemic quickly evaporated after the chic display of boxy double-breasted and single-breasted styles that have permeated recent collections. a powerful sense of effortless elegance.

Kim Jones for Dior was one of the best examples of the return to elegance, with a range of bespoke double-breasted suits and top coats paired with minimalist berets designed by in-house milliner Stephen Jones. The result was very French and timeless. Hermès, Ermenegildo Zegna and Fendi also introduced new versions of heritage classics, making the suit youthful and desirable once again.

Fashionistas wear black? Revolutionary….Yet fashion’s historically favorite color was ubiquitous in fall collections. When presented in monochromatic looks, the result was minimalist and sometimes even mysterious. Jil Sander’s minimalist heritage worked perfectly in evening-inspired black monochrome looks, with boxy, clean and fitted silhouettes accented with satin lapels. King of dark goth, Rick Owens, showcased some of the most interesting and mysterious takes on the all-black trend with black puffer jackets with hoods zipped across the models’ faces, leaving only eye slits and a few holes to breathe. Alyx and Craig Green have also gone to the dark side for Fall 2022.

The exaggerated, broad-shouldered silhouette was the most popular of the Fall 2022 collections. A bright red leather belted coat with a mega-powerful shoulder from Prada was probably one of the most memorable examples – giving superhero Alexis Carrington vibes. Rick Owens, Louis Vuitton and GmbH were also at the forefront of this empowerment movement.

Head-turning coats were all the rage in outerwear. Standout pieces came in many forms, from belted rope styles and rich sheepskin crop styles, to long animal print overcoats and faux fur trench coats. EgonLab, Jil Sander and Hed Mayner presented some of the most directional examples – perhaps for those who want to get noticed.

The days of skinny and ultra-skinny jeans are long gone – baggy jeans from the early 80s have officially taken over. Classic skater jeans come in a variety of shades and styles. Bianca Sounders’ indigo styles were presented as Canadian tuxedos, with matching tops. Loewe’s light-wash jeans paired with a trompe l’oeil t-shirt offered some of the most playful take on the trend, while Willy Chavarria’s traditional oversized denim cuts, for which he is known, have once again proved the creator’s ability to be ahead of the pack.
