Men’s fashion offers fewer possibilities than women’s fashion, which is why innovation is essential. By experimenting with your look, you can combine many fashion trends and convey your uniqueness. In terms of fashion, it’s always good to be yourself, but there are a few simple guidelines to follow. In a conversation with HT Lifestyle, Aman Aggarwal, stylist and men’s fashion influencer, suggested 7 common fashion mistakes men should stop making.
1. Short-sleeved shirt with a tie
The tie is part of a formal outfit and the short-sleeved shirt is casual. So it doesn’t make sense to wear these two items together.
2. Mismatched colors between shoes and belt
Remember to always match the color of your shoes and your belt. Exception: white shoes go with any color of the belt.
3. Wearing the wrong undershirt with your dress shirt
A visible undershirt breaks the visual line. Wear gray colored underwear to prevent visibility. Don’t buy a white color undershirt.
4. Do not iron your clothes
Perm-press fabrics should definitely be ironed or pressed after being washed for a clean, professional look.
5. Wearing stained clothes
Never wear stained clothes because they look unprofessional. If possible, try to remove the stain by washing the clothes in lukewarm water.
6. Wear socks with sandals
The sock with sandals gives a messy look. Sandals are made to be worn barefoot. If your feet aren’t a body part you’re comfortable showing off, avoid open-toed shoes.
7. Deep V-Neck Shirts
A nice jumper or an O-neck and V-neck shirt are must-haves in the male wardrobe. However, over the past few years, there has been this trend where the V is way too deep and leaves a huge gap between your chest, resulting in a messy look and feel. Avoid wearing them without a plain white t-shirt inside.
