Led by Elizabeth Hilfiger, FOO AND FOO explores the mechanics of beating the heat through workplace must-haves, styled in a decidedly playful way, on models with an authentic cachet of downtown cool.
Channeling the reactive nature of today’s youth, Hilfiger found inspiration for her latest collection when the air conditioning broke in FOO AND FOO’s studio in East Los Angeles. Heat has become an essential way to describe the latest fashion releases, but it also hints at larger issues of climate change and social conditions – through redefined American styles like hoodies, button-down shirts and solid and structured pants, FOO AND FOO drives its creations with innovation to solve the problems facing future generations.
Each of FOO AND FOO’s genderless garments includes modular details and advanced features from Techniche, a tech brand known for designing cooler pieces for Olympians and construction workers. Designed by Ash Williams, who owns a vintage store a few blocks from the show’s site, a FOO AND FOO hat with panels for super-cooling abilities takes on a subversive, playful look reminiscent of bunny ears. The contrast between the show’s hot and cool qualities is also reflected in its choice of models, which included cutting-edge creatives like videographer Manon Macasaet and Aaron Rose Philip.
