Spring is fast approaching, but what will we wear when the sun comes up? We spoke to two personal stylists who have all the answers

What are the key trends for the spring/summer 2022 season?
We spoke to two personal stylists Lindsay Edwards, from Reinvent your personal styleand Abbey Booth, who runs an online fashion forum Stories with clotheson what will be hot next season so we can get our spring/summer wardrobes ready.
They told us there were eight trends that we will all wear. They are:
- Grooves
- Color – bright orange, baby blue and very perished
- Oversized blazer
- The 90s and 2000s reveal
- fruit patterns
- Floral patterns
- Victorian inspired clothing
- Quilted Patchwork Clothing

French vibe with a classic stripe
According to personal stylist Lindsay Edwards, striped tops are “wardrobe staples for spring.”
Personal stylist Abbey Booth agrees: “Who doesn’t love a Breton stripe – typified by the classic horizontal stripe – it’s practical, timeless and looks great with a biker jacket, jeans and trainers for that vibe. effortless French that many of us admire.
It’s not just horizontal stripes that are trending for the coming season.
Abbey added: “The vertical stripes stretch and lengthen which is very flattering for little ones.”

Lift your mood with a flash of bright colors
The dopaminergic band-aid â wearing bright colors to boost your mood â is going to be important.
Lindsay said: “The hottest colors for this spring are bright orange, baby blue and ‘very perished’ – a specific shade of periwinkle named Color of the year by Pantone.
“All are fabulous colors which, if you’re feeling bold enough, can be worn in combination for particularly striking effect.”
Abbey advises putting color in both your accessories and your clothes.
She said, “If you haven’t tried color yet, look at accessories or a yellow bag to add that pop of color”
To stay on trend with this year’s color of the year, try this purple knit ruffle top of River Island. Available in sizes 6 to 18.
David Byrne-cool with an oversized blazer
Abbey said: âSeen often on the runways with a dress or skirt combination, the oversized blazer is a tough layer to work with as it will be perfect for layering in the cooler spring weather.
“It’s also a great way to add some color to your wardrobe and will add a tailored look to many simple outfits.”

Cute accessories with a 90s revival
Lindsay said, “’90s crossbody bags are having a huge resurgence, and so are long pendant necklaces.”
Abbey also said we should think about how Britney Spears dressed in the 1990s; low-rise jeans, crop tops and sparkly butterfly patterns, because we can prepare for it to return to the forefront of fashion – (of course, this look is not for everyone!).
If you want to reminisce about the 90s but want to do it in a more subtle way, then this baguette bag from Mango is a cute and practical way to do it. Available in black or neutral, it will go with any outfit. Carrie Bradshaw would be proud.
Spritz this with a fruit pattern
For those who love playful prints, lemons, oranges and strawberries will be everywhere this spring/summer season, according to Lindsay.

The power of the flowers
Now we know what you’re thinking, “flowers for spring”. revolutionary’.
However, there is a reason flowers continue to be popular year after year and season after season because they are timeless.
Florals will be big this season in all shapes and sizes, from romantic prints to more oversized florals, you can be sure to find a style you love, says Lindsay.

Keep it prim with Victorian-inspired clothing
Lindsay said: “For those who like a romantic edge to their look, there is a great selection of Victorian high neck blouses on the high street adorned with lace and ruffles.”

Lindsay said: â2021 quilted jackets are still very much in style, but the updated version for this season is a quilted patchwork jacket or vest.
